Damn, has my taste in literature changed unbelievably. I'm resurrecting this thread with my new top 3: 1. Infinite Jest Just blows everything else I've read and probably anything I will read out of the water; hundreds of characters, hilarious jokes, still a seemingly sad overriding theme about addiction, and just general fun to read. It just captures contemporary America so perfectly, along with a super-zany plot about Canadian wheelchair terrorists and a movie so captivating it kills it viewers. Don't let my vague description fool you, this book is massive in scope and size (1079 pages) 2. Catch-22 This is even funnier but perversely even darker than Infinite Jest. This is the funniest book you'll ever read, period. Even if slapstick doesn't appeal to you, this book makes it funny. Focusing on the insanity of war of bureaucratism, and the irrationality of everything in general, it's really messed up chronologically (as is the great IJ), so you might be confused for the first half of the book, but it ties together brilliantly in the last half. 3. A Frolic of His Own It's about the LAW and also art Edited by Nimbo-Bimbo lord of all noobs, Jan 18 2013, 09:10 PM.

Jurassic Park And really, I can't remember another book aside from that and its sequel, which I wouldn't put on a list of my top ten even. Nothing will beat Jurassic Park for me. RIP Michael Crichton. |

Gravity's Rainbow Crazy - Benjamin lebert Catch 22 I like a lot of the books posted, Michael Critchon was such a good writer. Fight club and the LOTR series is brilliant too. Game of Thrones isn't far off either. |

Night Angel Trilogy (Brent Weeks earned my eternal respect with those ones) Sword of Truth (Terry Goodkind is crazily good at writing!) Where's Wally? (Hours of entertainment) I'd like to say the Inheritance Cycle, but the ending was bad and should feel bad I also used to like Harry Potter, but the movies kinda killed it for me. |
